Spicy Maple Glazed Grilled Tofu

Spicy Maple Glazed Grilled Tofu

Ingredients

  • 400 gms extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon tabasco sauce (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon edible oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Recipe Preparation

  • Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into slices or cubes, depending on your preference.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, tabasco sauce, rice vinegar, edible oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the tofu in a shallow dish or a Ziplock bag. Pour the marinade over the tofu, making sure all pieces are well-coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to penetrate the tofu.
  • Preheat your griller to medium-high heat.
  • Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent the tofu from sticking.
  • Place the marinated tofu on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through.
  • Brush the remaining marinade over the tofu while grilling.
  • Once the tofu is cooked to your desired level of firmness, remove it from the grill.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
  • Serve the spicy maple glazed grilled tofu as a main dish or as a protein-packed addition to salads, wraps, or grain bowls.
  • Enjoy!!!

This recipe combines the sweetness of maple syrup, the spiciness of tabasco sauce, and the umami flavours of soy sauce to create a delicious glaze for the grilled tofu. The result is a tofu with a slightly caramelized exterior and a flavourful, tender interior. Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by increasing or decreasing the amount of tabasco sauce. Enjoy!
