Oats & Sweet Potato Tikki

Oats & Sweet Potato Tikki

Delicious and healthy snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup finely chopped onions
  • ¼ cup finely chopped coriander leaves
  • ¼ cup finely chopped green chilies (adjust according to your taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

Recipe Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, rolled oats, chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix everything well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Allow the mixture to rest for 10-15 minutes. This will help the oats to absorb moisture and bind the mixture together.
  • Once the mixture has rested, divide it into equal-sized portions. Take each portion and shape it into a round tikki or patty. Flatten it slightly to form a tikki shape.
  • Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat and add a little oil for shallow frying. Place the tikkis onto the pan, leaving some space between them.
  • Cook the tikkis for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. Flip them carefully using a spatula.
  • Once the tikkis are cooked on both sides, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining tikki mixture, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
  • Serve the Oats and Sweet Potato Tikkis hot with mint chutney, ketchup, or any dip of your choice.
  • Enjoy!!!
