¼ cup finely chopped green chilies (adjust according to your taste)
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
½ teaspoon cumin powder
½ teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
Oil for shallow frying
Recipe Preparation
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, rolled oats, chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix everything well
until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
Allow the mixture to rest for 10-15 minutes. This will help the oats to absorb moisture and bind the mixture together.
Once the mixture has rested, divide it into equal-sized portions. Take each portion and shape it into a round tikki or patty. Flatten it slightly to form a tikki shape.
Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat and add a little oil for shallow frying. Place the tikkis onto the pan, leaving some space between them.
Cook the tikkis for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. Flip them carefully using a spatula.
Once the tikkis are cooked on both sides, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
Repeat the process with the remaining tikki mixture, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
Serve the Oats and Sweet Potato Tikkis hot with mint chutney, ketchup, or any dip of your choice.
